I haven't seen Truely Madly Deeply for years, and I don't think I could watch it now without sobbing the whole way through, it was bad enough before I had my own loss to think about...

I hear he died of a haemorrage after a 'routine' operation Just shows, nothing is really routine, we are so used to medical stuff being described that way, and it can still throw up surprises...

As a man in touch with my "inner woman", I'd like to contribute to this thread and agree that this was sudden and v.sad to hear. A great film maker who's films were always visually beautiful and who will be missed by many I'm sure.
