A few years ago, I 'got involved' in a race on the way home. I came across him just coming out of Rossington where I took him when I perfectly timed a green light. He took me back, I took him back, he took me back etc etc. This went on all he way through Bessacarr, into Doncaster and out towards Bentley.which is around 7 miles of flat out pedaling in desperation. I was so glad when I got the last scalp in, and he admitted defeat by turning off towards Bentley as I went straight on towards Scawsby. Not sure if he lived that way, or just wanted to save face, but I do know that had he carried on my way, I was around 30 seconds from turning off down a road where I didn't live.

I don't attempt to race people, I'd lose every time
I prefer to go at my own pace. I have overtaken a few people who are slower than me, but not many.
There is one guy on my way home thatiI dread being stuck behind. He is slower than me, but doesn't stop at the toucan crossings so keeps overtaking me. I get the feeling he thinks I am trying to race him, although I'm just taking it steady. Normally I hang back because he turns off after about a mile anyway. I don't push it on the first couple of miles when I still have 8 miles to go and some hills.
