Well, folks, I've had my knuckles rapped and threatened with excommunication due to "spamming." That is I've been a bad man by hyperlinking you to specific pages on my VeloWeb site, when asked specific questions, such as: How do I fix a flat?

Since I have a page that specifically answers that question in words and video, I will usually say look here (see, no link), rather than typing out the whole procedure here. Same with bike fit queries, etc.

The rest of the time, I come to Cycle Chat to ... well, chat.

Some people here don't like me. Gee, just like in meatspace. On the other hand, a lot do, if I am to believe positive feedback on these pages and by PM. Thanks also for the kudos on the site, via e-mail.

Those of you who wish to keep in touch, keep the fanmail coming, via my site

The constraints now dictated by Admin, I find rather onerous, so I'm unlikely to spend as much time here. Some will likely celebrate that.

I am however active in other online cycling communities that have no such restrictions.

Thanks to all my friends here, especially for your encouragement during this difficult recovery from my injury.

Cheers,
Ray

So, you have been told to **** off for helping people, and linking them to your site, which has the information on?
This site really is shoot then.
What about Sheldons web page, or the bike tutor or whoever that self-gratification artist is?

I tell you what, im sure some on here will put a link to your site instead of you putting it.
Ill do it, mainly to get back at the mods. Just PM me the link to put on and which post and it will go on.

Exactly Lee,
Surely it is good to have an archive(is that spelt right? my spell checker says so, maybe not the right word) of the websites that are helpful, so people don't go to the shitty ones?

Rando,

Sorry to hear you won't be around as much. Speaking as a beginner, I can say that you have been helpfull to people asking advice, it's not as if your links are trying to flog timeshare or something, that's spamming, yours isn't IMO.

Surely you're just giving your slant on things, which is what a public forum is surely about. Just your opinion and info which is freely provided on your site, which simply adds to the many other sites other people link to. So if they didnt like the way you did it, just a request to change it maybe? Shame to lose a voice of experience for something like that. People could choose to ignore what you say or reccomend if they wanted.

But that said, admin have a right to fix what they may see as wrong, so just shrug it off but stick around.

regards

Rich

ps. get well soon and stay positive

Exactly my intent. I put a lot of work into VeloWeb, as a public service to other cycling enthusiasts. I can assure I do it at a loss, but enjoy the work -- except for some &*$%^! technical struggles. But I'm always up for a challenge.

There's a couple chaps 'round these 'ere parts who think VeloWeb is "rubbish."

I'm not doing it for them.

Thanks for the encouragement. I trust you've bookmarked my site

No but i shall do.
Its tempting to just link to that now, to see if it will piss of the mods more.

Is it Admin thats spoken to you, or 'Moderators'?

Even if randochap knew very little (I'm not saying he does) it is useful having someone more likely to post throughout the 24hr window as newbies tend to be very appreciative of quick answers, or at least think someone out there is listening which is very helpful for the forums eventual survival.

I can't see the spam thing myself, but then again I wouldn't have banned the dark lord either.

Looks a good site to me , i wouldn't worry to much about mods , the worse that can happen is you get banned , its hardly the end of the world , carry on as you always have rise above them.

The power has probably gone to there head/heads
