Standing a crayfish on its nose and using its two pincers to form a tripod immobilises it. I used to perform this stunt with my pet crayfish, Gary.

A similar immobilisation can be obtained with rabbits. Hold them on the ground belly up and they become very calm. Gently removing your hands leaves them immobilised until a stimulus such as a sharp noise or a light touch breaks the 'spell'

Allegedly, drawing a straight chalk line on the ground and placing a chicken's beak on the line so that it has a clear view of the line either side of its head immobilises the chicken. I've either had the chalk and no chicken or the chicken and no chalk so I've been unable to test this one.

If i point my finger at one of my chickens it will just stare at it . Having said that if you pointed your finger at me i would just stare at it and wonder what the fark you where doing .

Here's a real one that works for my moggie. If you make a circle on the floor about the size of a dinner plate with some wool or string a cat will go and sit in the middle of it.
