QUOTE="swl, post: 3432872, member: 23796"]And it's disingenuous to say the SFA knew about them because they were in the accounts[/QUOTE]

Campbell Ogilvie the President of the Scottish Football Association Was paid through an EBT when he was with Rangers .

Everyone knew about them , Celtic even used one but then after advice paid the tax on it I believe .

Are Rangers anywhere near suffering the same fate as Hereford?

I am asking if people think Rangers are anywhere near ending up in a similar position? Are they in such a mess that something similar will happen to them?

Ok well , apples and oranges really ( excuse the pun ) , Hereford wont be able to sell £7 million quids worth of merchandise or sell 40000 season tickets so when a small club goes bankrupt there wont be parasites lining up to buy them as has happened to Rangers .

What is happening at Rangers the now is Investors are being shut out by the board to protect contracts that could be worth £50 million plus over the next ten years .

Mike Ashley wants to own 30 % which would stop future investment ( you need 75% of the share holders vote yes to offer new shares)

If the SFA allow Ashley to buy 30%then the club will survive but only to fill his pockets and if they stop him I believe they will go with other investor ( King and co)

I cant see a scenario where Rangers go bust again unless it rids them of Ashley and his Retail deal .

One of the reasons I asked was that I heard recently that Rangers receive very little as a result of kit sales, the vast majority going to the retailer (which I think is owned by Ashley); the second reason I asked was that I was uncertain if Ashley was the only person with the available cash to bail them out, and whether he would be permitted to become a major shareholder given his current stake in Newcastle. There has been so much behind the scenes skulduggery mentioned that I am of the view that the slope is slippery in terms of Rangers continued existence (irrespective if they are a club formed in 1870-something or 2000-and-whatever)

King's a sideshow. There's no way on earth he'll pass any SFA fit and proper person test. A convicted tax cheat wanting to take charge of a club reformed with the assets of a club that died through financial cheating?

I Had to read my last post again as Marmion liked it ,I can see a great friendship blossoming now :smile:

Don't bloody start liking my posts now!

Yeh, that was what I remember hearing - madness. So they are unlikely to be filling their coffers via that route.

I can't be arsed working out how many replica tops they'd need to sell in a week to pay for Super Ally's weekly wage but "a fair few"...

I don't think Sandy Easdale is a member of the board though, is he? AIUI he's just a shareholder and nobody can stop crooks and gangsters buying shares. Dave King is wanting a bigger role in this Rangers (and was a Director in the company that screwed the old Rangers, so why fans want him back is a mystery)

Mccoist and his salary though is chicken feed compared to all the other contracts , I believe the best course of action if you want Rangers to succeed long term is anything that bleeds them of money right now , so I hope Mccoist does not leave .
