DHL buy Home delivery network, call it Yodel and inherit the rubbish service that earn HDN such a hugely bad reputation.

A friend of mine's parcel has been 'delivered' and signed for, but not delivered to him at his address...

On one occasion.. arrived home to find a 'we called' card through letter. I phoned the number to arrange to collect myself to be told it had been delivered! It took me the rest of the night calling on most of my neighbours to find where it had been delivered to!

They were nice enough when i dealt with them, unfortunately their base is more than 50 miles from my house. That's true for TNT, DHL, Interlink Express and UPS though.

If I can I persuade mail order companies to post things Royal Mail or Parcel Force as they are the only ones that actually have pickup points in West Cumbria. I have had to do a few 100 mile round trips though - one by bike

I recently caught a Yodel deliverer trying to sneak a card through the door and run off because he had parked further up the road and could not be bothered carrying it to my door. I asked for the parcel and he returned 5 minutes later.

:cursing: Chancer.

I had two parcels "delivered" by Yodel...

The first went missing, they had no record of it save that it had been delivered and a time and date where both myself and wife were at work

Following evening one ofthe neighbours with whom it was left dropped it round.

Secons was a set of textbooks, which were taken in by a neigbour after they had been left on our doorstep in the pouring rain. Absolutely sodden and ruined.... Went back to the book company who replaced.

Our neighbour ordered a hoover from a catalogue that was 'delivered' by yodel. They delivered it to ours because the neighbour was out, not a problem...
Expected them to call round for it but they didn't and whenever I went round there they were out :banghead:

Couple of days later the stroppy delivery driver knocked on our door. My wife answered, the guy never spoke to her. He saw the hoover by our front door and said to whoever it was on the phone "yeah its still at 45" and promptly left.

Finally caught up with our neighbour a day or 2 later.
Me: we've got your hoover at ours still
Mrs A:  oh!? How long have u had it for?
Me: nearly a week now.
Mrs A: we had no idea anyone had even tried to deliver it, no card to say or anything. There's been lots of angry phone calls between us and catalogue trying to find out what's gone on!
Me: yodel not the best for delivery then!

It was the other way round HDL bought the domestic side of DHL then changed the name to Yodel in the hope no one would notice  I wont buy off anyone who uses Yodel or City Link just cant be bothered with the hassle.

I can understand a delivery driver not wanting to carry a large, heavy parcel to the door and so coming to see if you were in before lugging it down the road along the lines of:

"Hi, got a parcel for you, it's in the van, just be a min"

what your delivery bloke did was just lazy.

By contrast, Yodel were meant to deliver something and collect some returns today, they arrived about 5.15 this evening and just asked for the items they were collecting. I wasn't here and the wife thought there'd been a change so she handed over what needed to be handed over.

About 2 hours later, and with stationary traffic outside our door due to the M4's issues, the guy turned up hugely apologetic and said he realised that he'd messed up (not his actual phrase :giggle: ) when there was still something in the van after he did his last drop off and it had taken him 45 minutes to do the 7 miles back to us.

Now, I know that it was his mistake in not dropping off when he should have done but to then sit in that traffic at the end of a sodden wet Monday to put it right, I thought that was pretty special.

This same guy has been covering our area since the days of HDN and he is fantastic, on one occasion coming back at least three times in one day before finding us home on the fourth visit.

Given the many other tales, though, about Yodel, I do recognise that he could be the one exception.

I think my local guy is private now. He did have an HDN-signed van before the take-over but the wagon he's been using forth the past few years has been unwritten.

ha! I ordered a pair of PJs by post, and went for the 'standard' delivery (still hideously expensive). And received this

Orders despatched via our Standard delivery service are dispatch via Royal Mail via a non-trackable service.

Orders dispatched via our Express service are despatched via DHL. You can use the 10 digit consignment number as shown above, to track your parcel with the courier, http://www.dhl.co.uk/en.html.
