You're all babies!
I lived in Zimbabwe for a couple of years which soon cures you of arachnaphobia.
The most common type were wall crab spiders or flatties. Smallish body, long stripey legs ùp to about 10cm across but as flat as a piece of paper. They live on the walls of your house but you stand zero chance of catching them because they are one of the world's fastest animals. They don't build webs but rush their prey. They eat mozzies so they are ok by me!

although it's the small ones that are really dangerous. This one was up in a tree. Strolling along a rain forest walkway, however, I damn near walked into this,

The view is a bit side-on to make it catch the light but I think you get the idea. That handrail is about 1m high and half visible.

We get them coming in presumably from the field behind the house.

Had one in a pint glass a couple of years back and it was tapping it with it's mouth, looked like it would have had a good bite given the chance!.

Seen a few scary ones in the shed as well!.
