Accy is a Mazda MX5 too impractical for you? If you could get a Mk3 NC or the later one if you could afford it, it would be a lot better car than that is. The only issue with those is rust, but get a cherished one and you're onto a winner. Just the most reliable convertible I can think of, or maybe an S2000, but they're stupid money and a fair bit faster. I'd rather keep the Fiat than than that mini.

Oh I'd love a Mazda MX5, but I couldn't get out of one! I could fall in, but not climb out! I'd need a zimmerframe on the tiny backseat (do they have back seats?🤔) to use to climb out with, which takes away all the affect of a cool😎 sports car, wouldn't you say?! 🤔 🙄 😬 😉

I've just remembered a downside of that Mini cabriolet. I read that the cabriolets are 95 kilograms heavier than the hard tops, due to the extra metal to strengthen the car's frame, whereas on Fiat 500 cabriolets it's only 45 kilograms, as they still have parts of the roof on the cabriolets. 95 kilograms is like carrying a heavy person around all the time. I'm only 65 kilograms and my constant dog passenger is a mere 3 kilograms, so that 95 kilograms weight will affect performance and of course petrol costs! 🙄

As I said when you mentioned it recently, your mpg will be influenced by the predominantly urban motoring you do, as will performance. In short, buy the car you like best, a few mpg +/- will have little impact on costs.

Why do you want to change, or do you fancy a change ? I don't get cabrio's - heavier, generally handle worse, and, if it's hot, I crank up the A/C. You can hear your tunes better, rather than having wind noise ! Also not worries with a roof going tatty if you don't clean it properly.

I'm 'hooked' on soft tops now! I sat in my Fiat the other day with the roof closed. It was a mild sunny day. I imagined a hard roof, blocking out all the sun, wind, fresh air etc and felt it was a bit claustrophobic. I know crap like leaves, insects, even bird shoot gets in, but I do actually like finding dried brown leaves in spring, from the previous autumn on my full of charity shop clutter back seat. Soft roofs are well insulated these days from the rain and noise. There's also something about the sound of heavy rain on a roll back canvas roof that you can't get from a metal roof! Yes, there's always the fear of vandals or thieves slashing the roof to get in the car etc, but we don't see many if any patched up soft tops these days, like we used to see in the 70's and 80's, probably due to there being far more soft tops around, meaning they aren't figures of hate and jealousy they were once seen as with morons vandalising them, thinking all soft top owners were 'loaded', so the jealous ones thought it was OK to vandalise them.

You'd like mine, but the fuel bill would put a crimp on your fashion purchases.

Oh no! I phoned 'dodgy Keith' this afternoon to be told the Mini Roadster was sold the other day, after being on their forecourt for 3 weeks! If only I'd seen it earlier!!🙄 Ah well, it was meant to be I suppose. I did look up how much insurance I would've had to pay if I'd bought it, to find the minimum policy they could find was £422, which is about £130 more than my current Fiat 500c's policy, though no doubt that'll be higher when I renew it next March, or is it April? 🤔 Anyway, onwards and upwards, let's not dwell on what might have been and therefore look forward, not backwards!😬 Therefore I give you my latest find! I know you will all be in total admiration of it, but if any of you think it's not really me, please feel free to post your comments!❤️ 😉👍

1,145 I've just got a 'We Buy Any Car' online valuation of my 2012 Fiat 500C. It has a 6 months MOT and has done approaching 86,000 miles. I was offered £1,145, actually expecting around 8 or 9 hundred. I think if I'd part exchanged it with that first Mini Roadster that was sold I'd only get around £800 for it. My car has a few not too serious, but still there faults with it. Is £1,145 a decent offer I wonder?🤔
