I'm thinking of any rust underneath the car that I couldn't see.

Unless youre buying an old knacker for pennies it's well worth spending the £150 or so on a professional AA or RAC inspection. In my experience they're thorough to an anal degree and they'll know what any common problem areas are.

Don't worry about that. There will be visible rust but it's only superficial, it's the in-panel stuff that matters.

And how would I spot/see that rust?🤔

I do quite like the look of that Mazda now. As I said earlier, I'm not a battleship grey or primer grey fan, but like the first Mini Roadster that I started this thread about, it's silver not grey! Though I still think it might be too low down for me as the other year a customer in the retro clothing shop I work in let me try out his Mercedes sports car, as in sit in it. It was OK to get into, but I had to grab/use his arm while he stood firm, to get out the thing.🙄

This looks a decent car. Miles are no worry, and you'll get a lot of the price back when you sell it on in 4-5 years with only 120k on it.

Cat S probably, which reduces the price and value significantly.

Also, it's the end of summer and these tend to be second/third cars so if someone's needing cash it's an easy option to sell.

Be very careful with early MX5's - they rust badly. Not just the bodywork, the underneath and all subframe/suspension - you really need an inspection unless you can get on the floor and shine a torch under it.

At that age, avoid any cars from Scotland or North England due to additional winter road salt and people not washing it off !

PS I'd struggle to get out of a MX5 and I don't have mobility issues.

That's the wrong series for Accy, he needs a later one. I had a Mk 2.5 myself, so have some knowledge
