This truly lovely man died yesterday, hit from behind by a car in a time trial.
91 years old and on schedule to break the over 90's 10 mile National TT record.
A regular rider with the Kingston Phoenix and CTC midweek wayfarers, Ray was a talented athlete (low 3 hour marathons in his 70's) and still a strong cyclist:
From last week's Wayfarers ride report:
...climbing Holmbury and White Down, accomplished with aplomb by Ray Dare, now 91 years young, and showing no sign of slowing down. Next week he is going for a national record 10mile TT, and we wish him every success.
His cheery smile and ever twinkling eye will be missed by his many cycling friends.
