right completely random I know, but do some razor companies intentionally put 'chemicals' on their products to increase hair growth - and therefore demand for their products. Being 18, I usually shave the stubble every two days. Recently I switched to a gillete shaver and shaving foam - I now seem to have to shave daily. Is there any science behind this or is it completely random was has occured to me?

don't know about razors but it is true that the first few pringles in the tube have a chemical on them that makes you crave the rest of the tube until you get to the last few, which have the antidote on them !!!!!

Don't be wasting your money on big name shaving products, a razor from L*** is just as good with ordinary hand soap and a shaving brush and a lot cheaper.

Seconded re the expensive razors with 4 + 5 blades. I use double edge blades and hair conditioner or a decent soap.

I have to say that I have one of those battery vibrating razor things (ooh er) and the razor seems to stay sharp a LOT longer than an ordinary razor (perhaps 3 or 4 times as long as a normal reasonable quality razor). I dunno if it's just a better quality blade or if the vibrating causes the blade to actually "saw" (vey quickly obviously) rather than just chop?

As for chemicals to encourage hair growth . . . well, if any of you guys now rubbing shaving foam into your bald scalps are getting anywhere, let me know . . . mine is thinning at a rate of knots.

It's MSG...which also makes you fart...so you literally can't stop popping

You need to experiment. Shave your pubes and if the regrowth is such you have to have plaits to keep it under control, then there's something to your idea...

Learn to shave

Don't waste your money on that gunk lad, get yourself down to London posthaste and invest in a badger hair brush, a double edge 'saftey razor', and some of Geo F Trumper's (or Taylors) shaving cream.

You're probably a little too fresh faced to brave the Saddlewood, but try the lime, rose, or Taylors Eton cream - their luxury soap is mighty fine too! The tub of cream will set you back £7 and last you half a year; the badger brush and razor shall last a lifetime. Plus, you'll get a smoother, closer, more comfortable shave.

There is a forum called Badger and blade, I suggest you google it.
