That was honestly, something I never expected to hear from you!!

Being middle-aged I've had many years to develop my humour to a mature level of filth

I've tried some of the three and four blade razors and seen no advantage whatsoever.

I prefer my old Gilette G2 but replacement blades are getting difficult to find. Tesco's do a version but they go blunt very quickly. I ended up buying a job lot of genuine gillette ones on ebay for a fiver.

I would love to try a cut throat but would probably do myself serious injury...

I guess the need to shave is is nothing to do with additives, who knows, if they do it with food? also the more you shave the more you need to shave in my experience, like legs?
I shave very infrequently and find the mach series they only razors that dont block with the bristles. i use green people mens range and find it excellent. i do keep meaning to buy a badger brush, fond memories of play with my dads and lather soap all over my face as a kid

i would love to go for a proper shave at a barbers one day, but would be nervous as hell

I agree with Chap about shaving soap - aerosol shaving foam truly is the Devil's Nose Bubbles.

The most important factor in a good shave is giving the bristles long enough in warm water to soften the keratin. In Chap's case, that would be done by an old gentleman in a green waistcoat leaving a hot damp towelette over your face for ten minutes while you muse on Wafflycat's plaits.

I do it by shaving in the shower, just before the final Rinse Cycle. If you run one of those shaving soap sticks over your chin, you and the dead badger can froth it up in situ. One disposable razor lasts me at least a month.

I still like my old GII, Mozzer do a reasonably priced own brand - it's probably all made in the same factory anyway.

I once read that 'a good lather is half the shave' - it's true!

p.s. If you are in the unfortunate situation where travelling to the great city is not presently feasible, then you can order online.

They do have shops outside the M25, I used to get all the shaving requisites I needed in the local chemist.

I use one of the new Phillips electric razors with the Nivea re-fill.

It's fantastic. Nice to have a good shave without tearing my skin apart.

I find the multiple blade types are sharper. But not for very long.

If anyone finds a razor that can also safely shave my ears at the same time, please let me know.

don't know about razors but it is true that the first few pringles in the tube have a chemical on them that makes you crave the rest of the tube until you get to the last few, which have the antidote on them !!!!!

Does anyone know where you can get good old Wilkinson Sword stainless steel blades anymore?

Used them for years - only go thro' about 4-5 per year - which may be why they seem to have stopped selling them

Doubt very much if these 5 blade jobbies are measurably better.

Regarding shaving cream: palmolive out of the tube (the dark green job) applied with a decent brush, works fine, it takes me months to work through a tube. And I shave every day.

And for razors: well I was on GIIs until I found it hard to get blades, so I switched to Excel, seems to work OK. One blade lasts two months. I dislike that strip of white soap (?) embedded in the blade though, I always prise it out on first use of the blade.

Get yourself down to a Turkish barbers,they burn the hairs out your ears with a long stick dipped in alcohol and set alight !!!!

I have one of those and barely use it.....it just can't handle the contours of my chiselled jaw line.

Seriously though, it just wont work below my chin and leaves me looking smoothe cheeked, but lawnmowered neck.
