Nor this one. But it was under assault for a while by nutritionists, and a trace of negativity still hovers about it in some circles. And it is Really Rather Good ;).

Having worked at Dairy Crest making Clover and Willow and other horrible spreads, I know what goes in them. I'd never eat that stuff. Give me butter every time!

Er ... real coffee.

My Dad wrote the ad for The Original, and I can still remember almost all of it:

Long grain rice all the way from America
Red peppers, green peppers, juicy green beans
Blah blahdy blah blahdy blah blahdy blahdy blah
Bachelors Savoury Rice!

(the beans, in truth, were anything but juicy) ;)

It is rice. In a packet. With little bits of dried veg. And mysterious flavourings. 38p for Sainsbury's own brand.

We eat quite a lot of it. ;)

I see!

I'm going to have to take your word for it. Are you sure it isn't a bit like a pot noodle, without the pots and the noodles?

I didn't see you'd already said beetroot! Is it me or is it FAB?!

It's even nicer when it's picked fresh from the garden, cooked and eaten still hot. YUM!

Good to pickle one's homegrown beetroot too.

One of my favourite sandwiches is a good strong cheddar topped with pickled beetroot on thick bread.. YUM!
