Cycling in the sun

The "Have you ridden without lights" thread reminded me of a problem I have. I cycle with my son to primary school, and in bad weather he has lights on his bike. His light is a Smart Superflash, and its mounted on the rear seat stay. I can't mount it on the seat post as the saddle is too low in comparison to the rear wheel to show.
The problem with where I have it mounted is that it points backwards and upwards - directly where I'm cycling. I've resorted to making sure the batteries are not brilliant to prevent myself from being blinded.
Have anyone any ideas how I can get the light to face backwards when mounted on the seat stays? I'll try and get a photo of what I mean later on today in case it isn't clear.
