I have a trainer (CycleOps Supermagneto Pro) and been told it would be wise to put a different tyre on my rear wheel to suit trainer use (such as http://www.wiggle.co.uk/cycleops-trainer-tyre/). However, I'd prefer not to keep swapping the tyre, so thinking it would be wiser and easier to get a complete second rear wheel and quickly swap that instead.

I'm not hugely technical and never bought separate components for my bike, but my first thought is that It would be best to have a similar or even identical rear wheel to avoid the risk of having to realign the dérailleur after swapping the wheel. I'm a casual rider and use the trainer for exercise purposes only, and would prefer not to spend too much.

Any advice, guidance or suggestions hugely appreciated. To be honest not sure where to start. For information I have a Raleigh AIRLITE 200 (2010 model) which has the following specification:

- 700C Rigida Nova rims on Formula hubs fitted with Michelin Dynamic 25mm tyres
- 9 speed cassette, 12/25 tooth (mainly Shimano Sora groupset with FSA’s compact Vero chainset)

A quick google and something like this looks very similar and reasonably priced - any thoughts?

ps. I also guess this is also an opportunity to upgrade my road wheels (depending on price) and instead use my existing rear wheel on the trainer.

After some further thought and research I'm thinking about transferring my existing tyres across to a new wheelset and then using my existing rear wheel with a new training tyre.

After a bit more searching I'm looking at the following wheelset with a cassette to match my existing:

Shimano R501 Bladed Spoke Clincher Wheels Pair
http://www.ribblecycles.co.uk/showPart.asp?part=SHIMWHFR203&bike=

Shimano 9 Spd HG50 (Sora/Tiagra) Cassette 12-25
http://www.ribblecycles.co.uk/showPart.asp?part=SHIMCASS905&bike=

A couple of queries I have if anyone could help clarify:

1. Skewers - I assume I can just use my existing skewers?
2. Tools - I assume I need a lockring remover to suit the Shimano HG cassette and a wrench
3. Spacers - will I need to buy more of these to get the Shimano cassette to fit the Shimano wheel or will everything I need be included?
4. Is there anything else I'll need to assemble an entire rear wheel as I've never done this before???

Thanks,

Matt
