Reccommend me a £1K bike

Ok, I know It's a common question, but in ready to upgrade my trusty Carrera.

I've got around a grand, and am looking for the following:

- Suitable for racing
- Minimum Shimano 105 or equivalent
- Less than 10KG, but preferably less than 9

And that's it really. I'm leaning towards a Ribble or a Boardman at present, but there's probably some gems I've not considered. Not a big fan of the Defy's aesthetics, so have all but ruled out.

Never thought I would ride let alone recommend a Ribble but the Gran Fondo is a really good frame - nice and comfy as regards road buzz and I just realized that I have been riding with a 11 -23 cassette instead of the usual 12-27 so it is not embarrassed by hills.

The cockpit is little on the high side- so suits a more relaxed riding style..

Now not only is that a top bargain, it's friggin lovely looking too.

Actually I prefer the black one ..... and their anodised matt black frames with titanium colour logos are even nicer.

Just want something a bit more unique - everyone knows the Defy. It's an awesome bike, just want something with more of a wow factor.

Don't blame you, Giant are great machines but they look utterly uninspiring IMO.

I don't know your size, but if you ride a 54cm frame grab THIS while you can. best £999.00 you'll ever spend IMO

If not, THIS is still available in a 56cm, still a great bike and you'll save £200 and still get 105
