these have been my favourite summer mitts for years, so i get a full oval suntan and speckled hand effect.

Hope it's not too late, but I'd warn against the Specialised BG Dual Gel mitts. On mine, some of the gel pads started to get pushed out of place within a few miles of cycling. I returned those, but the replacement pair were just as bad. After 2 or 300 miles, some of the gel pads are completely flattened. I'm a heavy rider, but my wife's pair (bought at the same time) are starting to go in the same way, and she hasn't used them as much as I have. I'll keep mine until they're no longer usable, then chuck them in the bin and never buy them again - I'll probably go back to my cheap Boardman pair, which have lasted much longer and are still as good as new.
yep i wouldn't buy spesh - i had some gel pads on one pair essentially detach/shift after no time. Pity - I had some old spesh ones that were stitched rather than fused and they were truly excellent.
Have bought some decent gloves from Polaris - can't remember which ones - in a sale.
I find some of the Lidl ones OK - depends on your hands I suppose.

Hi all,
Ms T.F. often gets pins and needles in one hand despite double wrapping the bars. Looking for a recommendation for a good pair of gel mitts please.

There may be other -- perhaps better -- solutions, too:

1) Try wider tires at lower pressure will help, especially if she is riding narrow "racing" tires (700 x 19-25mm) at a high pressure (100-120 PSI). Try a 700 x 27 8 or 35mm tire instead at 70-90 PSI, depending on her size, weight, and the loads on the bike.

2) Have her position on the bike checked by a good professional bike fitter, especially her weight distribution fore-and-aft as well as handlebar height/reach for more comfort... Is she too stretched-out forward and down to reach the handlebars? (Solving bike fit and comfort issues for your spouse is an excellent investment in your relationship!)

3) carbon fiber forks and/or handlebars may help dissipate shock as well but wider tires and lower pressure will help more for less money, assuming her frame has the clearances for wider tires.
