Don't forget windows tabs, such as the Linx 810. Not ideal if she's an app fiend, but if it'll run on a PC it'll likely run on that too. Zero issues with file types or conversions between laptop and PC.

I'm about as interested in fashion as Eric Pickles, but I like an easy life and that delivers it. If she's interested in having the latest man eating duck game app then it's not for her.

I bought one of the original (8.9 inch) Galaxy Tabs in 2012 and it has given over 4 years of excellent service so far. I assume that the current Galaxy Tabs are even better?

My late best mate had a 7 inch Nexus, which was a nice device but I found it a bit small. I think that 9-10 inches probably IS the optimum size.

You can't get a new full size iPad for £200 regardless
Some time ago I think it was Asda were selling the non retina display model with the smaller storage for about that figure, so might be worth casting about to see what's on offer. IPad is a brilliant machine, not so much the tablet itself but iOS is just such a cinch to use.

I recently bought two Lenovo tablets for the kids, £50ea at Argos. Rather slow but does the job. Also have LG G Pad which is a bit more exciting, £130 from JL's.

She doesn't want Apple I'm afraid, would want the retina screen if she did

She's looked at Samsung in the shops and liked that it is essentially the same as her phone. Probably just a matter of finding more cash if she's sold on the S

Having dropped my Galaxy Tab2 (IIRC) I got a TabA, very well priced and for day to day use, it seems to do almost everything the Tab2 did with the exception that the back and close app buttons are fixed on the TabA where those buttons were 'floating' on screen on the Tab2. Whichever way the Tab2 was oriented, the buttons were always at the bottom of the screen...not so on the TabA which is a little annoying.
That's the only issue I found for day to day surfing etc. No biggie, just noticeable.

I can recommend this Tablet:

It will provide the energy you need looking around the various outlets for the answer

I have an iPad so I phoned a friend who has both a Samsung phone and tablet and he assured me the tablet supported AirPrint.

It is, but as with many Apple developments it is simple and works

Without the need for complex drivers that other systems use it is compatible with virtually any device and enable printing .... it is now more often referred to as "Driverless printing"

Apple has a list of compatible printers

My mum has a Samsung tab...not an iPad, so doesn't really matter what printers are Apple compatible

And my friend doesn't want an iPad, nor can she afford one with the desired spec

I know they work, I have one

The point wit Apple's AirPrint was able to open up printing to a wide range of devices by removing the need for drivers.

The printer is listed as Apple "AirPrint" compatible because that is the printer technology that allows the Samsung to print on it

10 inch Windows 10 tablet. 1gb RAM, 32gb storage. £69 from Tesco. http://www.tesco.com/direct/windows...t-intel-atom-1gb-ram-32-gb-black/630-1078.prd

I've got a 7 inch Windows tablet, and that runs fine.
I've had one of those for about a year and I would've recommended it, but the camera isn't brilliant in low light.

Although if you're on Skype you'll probably be using the front facing camera, in which case it's worth checking the quality of that on any tablet before you buy.

Thanks but no thanks. I think I'll pass.
Another one for the galaxy tab A and put a micro sd card in it. Excellent quality, and lasts the course. I had a nexus.and it stopped working properly within weeks.I would never buy another one.

Lenovo seem to have cheap tablets. I bought a lenovo netbook for my grandaughter to use at university and she loves it. It cost around £110.00. They might be worth a look.

I don't understand what that means
