I don't understand what that means

Apple design one printer driver (a program that allows a computer to talk to a printer). Printer companies fall over themselves designing printers to work with this driver, because everyone knows Apple users like spending cash, and the printer companies want it. Samsung (or Google) copies the idea.

Printers used to need a "driver" - a software patch that enabled you to print with that printer

Apple decided to develop a system where these drivers were not used.

This enabled any device to connect and print

My Tab 2 is a bit slow now and sometimes crashes even though I've cleared a lot off and scanned it for viruses and malware but its gave me nearly 4 years of good service and the firmware is only just getting out of date with some applications.

My late best mate had a 7 inch Nexus, which was a nice device but I found it a bit small. I think that 9-10 inches probably IS the optimum size.

Only this weekend I replaced my aging Ipad with a Samsung Tab A 10" £179 . I'm a massive imac fan have been for years but I feel the phones and tablets offer little value for money compared to the competition.

I bought a Tab A 10.1, excellent bit of kit for around £200. Not an Apple fan boy other than the fruit.

Samsung Galaxy Tabs are my personal favourites.

Mine too. I have the Galaxy A Tablet and Mr S has a Galaxy S2, both excellent.

We've got a Lenovo and it's great for Skype and the sound is really good. Have never tried printing with it. Runs Android. £180 at John Lewis / Argos / Tesco.

This - or (my preference) in Yoga flavour. Different in a good way, at least for how I use it.

My laptop died over Christmas and I was forced into occasional use of an iPad. What a thoroughly dismal experience. Slow, spongy and you see images of heavily redacted web pages down the wrong end of a pair of binoculars. I found the finger grease on the screen pretty horrid too.

Avoid, IMVVHO.

I think the idea is that between cleaning your chain and using your iPad you wash your hands.

I've been using an iPad for a number of years, no issues. Sticky fingers marks just get cleaned off from time to time.
Friend wants a tablet, just doesn't get on with Apple, so likely to be a Samsung or possibly the Lenovo posted above
