Foodies...

...I am looking for a recommendation for a posh lunch or dinner in London on a Friday in August.

We think we want a fancy tasting menu, Michelin starred, veggie or pork free, where we can wear (smart) jeans and casual shoes at about £100 per head. Cuisine is not necessarily important; we'll both eat pretty much anything (barring pork). We looked at Atul Kochhar but we're both very greedy boys (we prefer to say "gourmands") and looking at the menu we're worried that wouldn't be enough food :shy:

Is the venue as important as the food for you. What I mean is, would you like the excitement of eating on the 35th floor of the shard or would you prefer some gasto delight hidden in a cellar on brick lane?

The food is probably most important followed by bragging rights over some fancy named chef and then the other stuff.

Friends of ours tried the Shard..loved it..plus you can pay extra for a sky high view of London

Chez Bruce (French so not veggie obvs, but scrummy and a really nice atmosphere too) - maybe a bit out but close to Wandsworth Common train station (or an easy Uber from the centre)

The Wolsey always has a good rep

Buy tea, presumably you mean dinner rather than afternoon tea (or lunch) - i.e. a meal, not sarnies, cakes and a glass of bubbly/pot of Earl Grey?

 yes - "tea" in my thread title really means "dinner" if you're darn sarf

We're looking for the main meal of the day.

Oh, and I do like the look of Chez Bruce, thanks
Pollen Street Social in W1, which is mentioned in @User 's list is really good and does brilliant veggie food and fish in tasting menus, but it costs a fortune and you have to book it about ten years in advance. But the lunch is a bit of a bargain.
That does look interesting!

Thanks (and @User too)

Top of the list so far (unless we decide to go to Atul Kochhar's and have a burger on the way home)
