Recommended upgrades for a 2002 Brompton?

Mine is a 2010 model and it works fine.....You may not need as new as you think. The longer wheelbase is the better choice, I believe. Many, many adjustments and tinkering can be done with a $5 set of Allen wrenches 10 mm and 15 mm box wrenches, a set of tire irons, some good grease and a set of pliers. One of the more difficult jobs for me, anyway, was fixing a flat since Schwalbe marathons can be be a bitch to get on the rims Now I know to do the stem section last I have replaced them with only thumbs, although getting them off still requires irons. A great thing about these bikes is you can get them home in car, train bus or cab and fix them in your warm, dty home. Doing this in the rain, snow, wind or rain is a tough way to learn the job.

I'm not sure if this fits your budget, but a brand, new "B75" model Brompton may be worthy of your consideration....
