I have seen a yellow Bacchetta Giro 26 (I think) rider heading up the creiff road into Perth a few times now at around 5.30pm ish. Anyone on here?
Hi, that'll be me. I'm new on this forum but occasionally post on bentrideronline and the CTC forum. I work out near Methven so you'll see me on the Giro 26 or on my ICE Sprint 26, come rain or shine!
I'm the opposite, I haven't been on an upright bike since last December. I'm just back from a 128 mile ride on the Giro - went up to Blair Atholl then across to Kinloch Rannoch, round Loch Rannoch, down to Aberfeldy and back via the Sma' Glen and Glen Almond. The bike was great but the hill out of Kinloch Rannoch past Schiehallion and the one out of Aberfeldy were awful in the heat.I do have a Volae high racer, very similar to your Giro, but I've not used it nearly as much as I'd like. Been relying on a Boardman Cyclocross bike for commuting duties to Almondbank instead. If you are amenable to a recumbent scoot around Perth sometime that would be awesome. Afraid I'm far from Perth United CC performance levels at the moment though hehe
Sounds good but I'll need to check with my wife if we have anything on that day. It would be fun to ride alongside other recumbents - it's becoming a bit tiresome being a bit of a lone curio - I'm quite amazed that I haven't caused any crashes yet@AlanT82 and
to CycleChat !
We're having a CC Ecosse Forum Ride from Perth on 3 August and I'm planning on brining my Nazca Fuego - though I will need to be given plenty of wobble-room on the twisty bits of the cycle path ! Still haven't worked out the slow-speed tight turn yet ...
You would be most welcome with either 'bent !![]()
Well... the Giro is quite a heavy bike - I've weighed it at 15.8Kg - how much effect that has I don't know but steep bits are definitely not fun. I try not to worry about it too much though and just gear down and spin away. Maintaining a straight course when crawling up a hill at 5mph is another challenge but it gets easier with practice.Hi...I've always wondered what its like going up steep bits in your style of machine? I imagine its a bit of an effort?

It would be good to meet up with another recumbenteer - Sunday afternoons often work well for me, otherwise perhaps an evening through the week? (I have two young daughters so riding time isn't always that forthcoming). I'll let you choose a route.
It certainly was hot - there were a few times when I realised that I am actually barking mad and should be content to lounge around with a cold drink when the weather's like this.128 miles!Well done in this heat! Sundays are cool but can't make this sunday sadly. I'm free week nights, apart from thursdays but nothing I can't cancel. Open to suggestions on the route as I haven't really explored outside Perth much, sorry.

Re: meeting up, my legs probably won't be functioning tomorrow anyway so that's no problem. Weather actually looking a bit iffy through the week so maybe next Sunday if it's going to be dry?

I did exactly that (the ice cream, not the deckchair material!) a week ago after riding the trike around Loch Katrine - I stopped at Aberfoyle for a 99 then sat down (on the trike of course) and watched all the tourists coming and goingThe late Peter Ross could often be seen on a Trice, deckchair like with an ice cream
I have always fancied going a step further and getting a deckchair material seat for the summer
