Hi Folks

I'm thinking of a weeks touring holiday on my recumbent next year - I'd like to start in Inverness and work across to and down the west coast. I was thinking of getting the train to Inverness.

Has anyone got any experiences of travelling with recumbents on the train. Are they viewed as 'bikes' or have you had any (extra) trouble getting them on board. I'm thinking of getting a new Cruzbike and I'm torn between the Road 'Silivio' and the folding 'Quest'. The Quest wouldn't be a problem on the train as you could fold it up, but what about the Silivo....

i commute regularly in London with a 2 wheel recumbent, an optima dingo; i have never had any trouble with train staff; I am generally going out of town in the morning and back in the evening so i am going against the flow of passenger traffic. I stick it in the bike specific bit and i took a kingcycle by train to workington last year for the c2c and having cycle to roker got it on a train back from sunderland ok. We went to paris a few years ago and i got a semi recumbent, Spirit by HPV back on the Eurostar [ had to pay]. I have also taken it with a reservation to Birmingham on an intercity but again no probs
i dont know about 3 wheelers

Good luck

Thks for that - I have a two wheeler so hopefully it will be OK - I'm going to take a spanner with me so I can shorten the bike if I need to - it not much longer than a normal diamond so fingers crossed

Hi

There briefly was a UK dealer a few years ago, but they were only selling them for a few months. I got my conversion mail order from the cruzbike web site, no problem except that they had forgotton to add postage to the price!! (so remember to ask about that before ordering).

...must admit I do fancy a Silivo

... or fish!

Looking at taking a Brox to York later this year. And enquries with the local operator(Northern) have so far proved positive.
