Reduce speed limits to 30mph - petition

Seems a bit drastic?
The only reason I signed it is that I suspect there will be an oil shortage long term.

(Yeah, I know they are different. The 55 proposal is for motorways and the 30 is for single lane Nat Speed Limit).

I think those crazy roads that are unfit for 30, never mind 60 might be much of the argument for a mandated 30 limit.
Then, anything faster allowed would need a raised limit sign, thus increasing safety.
