Thankful Villages were only recorded in England and Wales, Ireland and Scotland were not considered worthy of inclusion for some reason (the mentality still exists)
The list of "thankful villages" was never an official WD/Admiralty/MOD project. The only reason there are none listed in Scotland or Ireland is that there were none.
Some of the 53 or so known are doubtful. There may have been officers or sailors from that village killed, and some killed listed as resident in another place may have had parents or siblings living in the "thankful village": http://www.hellfirecorner.co.uk/thankful.htm
