I used to use another forum where they regularly asked others to help find something they lost. It was quite successful if people were being honest.

Have you looked on or around the Sky box?
I once lost a cat. Looked everywhere for it and asked all the neighbours. I eventually found it sitting on the TV watching my panic with much amusment.
