Removing Specs of Rust from Chain?

Can this be done? When I last went out in the rain I got back and was wet, cold, and fed up and so the chain only got a brief wipe with my chain rag. Unfortunately I missed about three links and so they have formed little specs of rust on the outer plates. It's not affecting the shifting or anyhting but IMO it makes the chain look messy and I know that it is there and it bugs me. Is there anything I can do to get rid off it?

Yeh, wipe the chain again.
Ive had it happen before, good wipe of the chain and they are gone.

Ah ok cheers Joe, I need to remove the chain after my ride today anyway as I am cleaning the bike so I will give it a good scrub/wipe. Need it to be in tip top condition for my Regional School of Racing tomorrow!

You remove your chain
I just take off the wheels sometimes.
A good wipe with your normal rag will get rid of the rust. Like how you do it when you give it a cleaning before oiling it again.

I don't do very many Crits; I focus on TT's and track, and for the latter I don't know how fast I go as I don't have a computer fitted to the Dolan. But it is quick: I am on 48:15 so about 86" and probably get that up to about 130 rpm across the line, and you have to pace yourself aswell as there are four seperate races at each event.

My training is normally based around 20 mile, with 40 mile club runs and the occasional ten mile effort. Average track races are: 8 lap points (2) / 10-15 lap scratch / kilo hanidcap / unknown distance / devil / keirin. All on a 400m track.

And with regards to gearing: I would go higher but with track you need to keep some acceleration capabilities so you can respond to and make attacks. I tried a bigger gear and it didn't allow acceleration so I meant back down a bit, whereas with TT you only need to accelerate once and so you can run a bigger gear.

I can also spin a 72" gear to 33mph on the flat. And going downhill can do 41.8mph on a 72" fixed, which is 200rpm. And can also be going along the flat in a chain gang doing 28/29/30mph and spinning away.
