Replacement chain set has longer crank arm - should the mechanic fix this?

Separate issue flossy, did absolutely everything need replacing? Seems a bit total. In future may be an idea to check/replace your bits yourself. Not that hard with a decent book like the Park Tools one.

All this stuff about "perfect" crank length becomes irrelevant if you ride a fixie, when 165s are probably what you want regardless of your height, both for cornering clearance and because it's not quite as frantic spinning them at 170rpm down hills.
