Replacement of cassette query

Looking for some advice please.
I have a 8 speed 11-28.

I would like to swap it for a 34-11 to help me with steep hills,is this a straight forward swap or does work need doing to the derallear or chain length etc

Ah right,its a newish bike and by the sounds of it,it maybe not worth the hassle,maybe just choose my routes better lol

Or just ride more and get bike fit.

You should get away with a 30t cassette without having to change the derailleur or chain.

Fare comment,i,m doing as many hills as possible but some as so steep where i live a mountain goat would struggle to get up them

7%, old chap. And hills in Northumberland are pussies compared to the Dales, the North York Moors, or indeed Devon.
Prospect Hill going south from Corbridge is probably the hardest, with some hard bends.
Well done getting in some decent hill work.

I've had 11-28,30,32 and 34 fitted variously to my bike depending what was on offer at the time.

I cart the little lad around on a bike seat he's now 30months and I felt I could do with some easing of the strain . So changed from a 30 to 32.

The change isnt massive but very welcome when needed, certainly noticeable, more so with the lad than that on my own.
