I've ordered a fair bit from Tredz and found them to be OK for stock IF you read the listing carefully

In Stock means what it says
In Stock with Supplier generally means it'll take a few more days, but could be a bit longer
Due in Stock on (random date) means come back next year

Also I don't think they've been mentioned, but I've had a few bits from Tweeks Cycles and found them to be good value.

Thats quite a common stock system, I worked on (for IT eCommerce) a similar system for a builders a few years back. In Stock with Supplier was needed as we'd often only carry a limited stock of the 10000s of parts a builders merchants might have, and we'd also state how many we could get. Due In Stock should be accurate to the next delivery, and that could be next year with bike parts!

I've added Tweeks to my sellers though :okay:

Have predominantly used Merlin in the past but just recently for stock availability have been using Tweeks in Wrexham.

Fortunately for me if it is something I can carry I can collect on a bike ride as it is about 20 each way.

However I did order something mail order last week and it arrived next day (free postage over £50 which my order was)

Merlin have served me well over the years but my main gripe with them is that they vet reviews and never publish less than a four star so product reviews can be a bit misleading as you don't get to see the bad reviews.

Interesting, I did read the reviews on Merlin for what I wanted (couple of rear lights) but I always go external for review and found a good road.cc review for the lights.

One thing I should have said is if googling Tweeks it is best to put in Tweeks Cycles as putting in Tweeks on its own takes you to it's Motorsport Website which is if course where they started out many moons ago in a little high street shop in Tattenhall.

I've had consistently good experiences with:

SJS
Biketart
Condor
Bikemonger
Fawkes
De Ver (only one purchase - my Genesis CdF) from here, but both price and service were top shelf.

There are probably a few more I've forgetten, which I'll add as and when. I've also bought from Tredz and Halfords without issue; mainly on cost / convenience as I'd rather support smaller cycling specialists if possible.

I've bought from SjS and Fawkes of that list, and agree they are very good.

I regard Tredz as a local store even though they are owned by the Halfords group, as they are based in Swansea and only have 2 shops, one in Swansae, one in Cardiff 10 minutes from my office (three shops if you include the Giant brand shop they run in Swansea).

Think I've used most that have been mentioned without any issues
Also eBay, check the listings to ensure you have new selected and you will go find a number of the smaller cycle shops using it as a shop front rather than funding a web site themselves.
