I need to replace the pads on my specialized allez. I can't get to bike at moment so can't check, but want to know what pads I should get. Googled spec of latest model and they are tektro calipers. If mine are the same, do I have to get Tektro, or can I gey generic brake pads? Are they mostly a standard size?

Any road bike pads will do.

The older I get, the faster I used to be ...
Any road bike pads will do.
- but check whether you have cartridge or one piece pads. If you have one piece, either replace with same or buy new cartridges plus pads. If you have cartridges buy replacement pads (or fit new one piece pads to replace the cartridges)

Jagwire one piece are fine. They're called 'Basics' for a reason, but they will fit and, applied, they will decelerate your bike. Worth taking this advice:

You have to change brake blocks. We have written about this before. If you search for words like "embed", "pick-up" and Koolstop you will find some useful information about the phenomena, including some photos of experiments done to demonstrate the difference between Koolstop and other pads.
