You also need to check the length of the steerer tube, the bit with the threaded portion on top. I assume you realise the difference between threaded forks and threadless ones that use an ahead headset.

In light of the above, probably better to go threadless, since a new headset is required anyway. Then the steerer length is less of a restriction.

Just buy a new bike, we all know these questions are a means to convince someone that it will be cheaper in the long run !
sorry not for me as this would be for the bike i plan to convert to single speed on the cheap so really just a little messing about project :biggrin:
