Hi everyone,

I am new to this forum and I am looking for some advice.
I have a Shimano 105 10 speed group set and my freehub is making a noise. I am wondering if I can easily upgrade the body only. I am considering going to a Ultegra 6700 body that is for 10 speed cassette. Is this a direct swap or are there any spacers needed. Also, if compared the designs what are the advantages of the Ultegra over 105. Again, I am not touching anything else but merely swapping the freehub bodies.

You will need to fit a freehub body that is compatible with the existing one - they are not all interchangeable. There should be a FH-XXXX type of number on the hub and if you look on the web you will find those that can be fitted. St Johns St Cycles area good source of replacement Shimano freeehub bodies

The main advantage of the Ultegra over the 105 is its lighter weight. A Shimano Ultegra free hub will be interchangeable with a Shimano 105 freehub. Both the freehub from the 6700 groupset and 105 5700 Groupset are 10 speed Shimano type cassette compatible.
