Response from bus company

I didn't really make any comment about Matthew's response... I personally, wouldn't have chosen to react as he did but I honestly think his reaction is irrelevant in all this. As I say, take Matthew out of it, regardless of the issue, the report, the tension, the aggression - there will still be 2 incompetent men driving buses around and it can be ignored or it can be sorted out. I'd rather it were sorted out and maybe they won't hurt anyone in the future, maybe...

You are right. I took the following quote to be approval of Matthew's actions and was disagreeing with that:

I can see that it may have been otherwise and apologise for any confusion caused.

Ah ok, sorry, it did seem a bit of a 'by any means necessary' kind of statement by me.

I don't normally comment on threads like this, but I would like to thank Matthew for standing up for cyclists.

Yes, few of us would have dealt with the situation in the same way, but that doesn't mean that we are
right and he is wrong. I, for one, am glad that someone does take the trouble to do this. He has more
courage than many of us and his calmness in this situation does him credit.

Thanks Matthew.

That's why I sent the (first) email. At least those two numpties, and maybe some more Arriva employees, will learn something about treating cyclists properly, Matthew's done us all a service.

He is far more impulsive than most of us that's for sure. He does little for other cyclists and his carrying of the HC to 'educate' other road users is frankly cringe-worthy. The problem is he only listens the the comments calling him a legend and a hero and bases his behaviour on Youtube hits and not common sense and courtesy to others. He is a child in his attitudes and behaviour. For every hundred comments disagreeing with his behaviour and attitude he only needs one to endorse his behaviour to feel justified. I'm frankly sick of these threads and all the nonsense. Courage is very different to what Matthew seems to exhibit in his videos.

The answer is simple, we kill the batman.
In all seriousness you don't have to read these threads

I keep getting alerts!!!
Unfollow the thread

My point is that it wouldn't have happened to me. I wouldn't have pointed to a headcam, so I wouldn't have been given the finger. And I wouldn't have followed the driver to the station, so I wouldn't have had to speak to those nobber bus drivers.

In fact I'd have forgotten all about it in minutes, and would be happier as a result.

And to be honest 9 times out of 10 thats the way I would react to. But I have seen the red mist descend in the past, mainly with taxis mind only takes one idiot and the wrong day,

Well I can see what line this thread is going down. :headshake:

We have established that my approach to the bus driver was wrong and ill-thoughtout.
But if I hadnt, all three of those drivers would still be out causing havoc and putting other cyclists in danger. At least now the depot manager knows of their incompetence and can deal with it. And hopefully change these peoples minds.

I have the utmost respect for the bus company in general, and I was shocked by the opinions of the drivers.

If you dont like what I do or the way I act, noone is forcing you to read my threads. The topic of this one was the response from the company, not what happened (thats why the other thread got locked).
Instead of crying on here and trying to change humanity, consider the implications of me not confronting the driver, or asking the other one if the depot manager was in. I could have easily let it go but decided that their behaviour was unacceptable. If you want to complain about it, make your own thread, or go to BusChat.net.

If you don't tell people you're filming it's inadmissible as evidence in court.

Some of the bus drivers on there are absolute cretins.
