Dear Mr Redpath
Thank you for contacting us again on 30 September 2014 regarding red light jumping at Bow Roundabout, and for including the video footage of the traffic. Please accept my apologies for the delay in relying whilst we looked into this matter further.
Transport for London (TfL) works in partnership with the Metropolitan Police Services (MPS) and City of London Police to crack down on anti-social and illegal road-user behaviour, such as red light jumping. I can now confirm that Bow Roundabout is being monitored as part of Operation Safeway.
Operation Safeway was launched last year; the operation, which originally lasted seven weeks, saw around 2,500 MPS officers at 170 key junctions across the Capital during rush hour, enforcing the rules of the road and providing safety advice. Operation Safeway now happens monthly and will continue into the winter months.
We acknowledge your request for cameras and improvements to the traffic light phasing at Bow Roundabout. This has been passed to our strategy and planning team who will investigate deterrent options for drivers going through red traffic light at this junction.
Thank you again for brining your concerns about Bow Roundabout to our attention.
Please contact me again if you need any further assistance, or if you would prefer to talk to us about this matter, please call us on
