Money I haven't got is burning a hole in my pocket*.

I don't want for anything and need nowt but still have this urge to spend money

Is it seasonal or something? I mentioned it to a friend at work and he's feeling exactly the same. He spent most of last Saturday looking on-line for stuff to buy and couldn't find anything to whet his appetite.

Is it something in the water at work or do you get like this occasionally?

*checking my bank account overdraft regularly does help temporarily with the urges but not for long.

Don't go near a bike shop then... a quick trip in for cables turned into new disk brake blocks, cables and a new set of gloves (well they are identical to my old wind proof pair except they don't have a hole in the thumb).

We did wonder if it was related to the arrival of spring and nest building or improving plumage like what the animals do.

Your new coat might lend weight to this theory Marin

Retail therapy is one of the greatest delusions of our time happily facilitated by the advertising industry. I would suggest having a day out, go for a cycle, meet with friends, go to an art gallery or something, and spend little. Then you will see that the best things in life...

I don't get very much exposure to advertising at all and can normally be found doing all of your suggestions, which is why I am a bit nonplussed by this feeling.

You're not the only one Longers, my urge at the moment is PS3 based, if Gran Turismo had actually been released then I think I would have been a gonner this weekend.

Retail therapy is always an empty high, buyers remorse sets in all too quickly. I bought a new water bottle on impulse recently as my old lucozade bottle had split, trying to reign myself in.

MrWC has just decided on a new car.

Not a dress then?

Urges are under control thanks to retail therapy* in Curry House, specifically 3 Cobras while waiting.

*all budgeted for in advance so not sure if it counts.
