And I thought they had been consigned to history...

Not quite like the old type though...these ones seem to somehow engage with the cable running from the regular levers, rather than attaching to the levers themselves.

the new type - "cross-stops" work exceedingle well. I've got em on my semi-offroad tourer and they're great. Haven't bothered on my road-oriented fixie

Where have you been hiding?

I've had those fitted for six or seven years.

Far from being a return of the suicide lever, they are separate type of lever - cyclocross auxiliary levers and very effective they are too.

Yep, I had the old suicide levers on my racer as a kid, I remember now .

I fitted some to the wifes road bike a few weeks ago..she likes them as the standard brakes are too much of a reach so no power..at least she can stop quickly now.

bit of a faf to fit but far better than the old lever type iirc on the power side as there inline

I have them on two bikes. I use them almost all the time. On the geared bike brifters are for changing gear. On the single speed the levers are for holding onto
