I am seeking legal advice about mine. For any authority to warn you to do something or be fined, they 'should' quote the relevant legislation at the time of the 'warning'.

Nowhere on the census document does it detail the act of law that I am being compelled to comply with - ergo - the whole warning is not a legal one - ergo the threat of a fine is baseless.

Ask any police officer, when they deal with someone, they have to state under which law the person is being warned - Theft Act, Public Order Act etc.

The census has none of that - just a warning about a fine.

That's what happens when you ask an american spy company to do our census.

Ours had an accident with some curry as we filled it in over dinner..hope it doesn't stink too much when they finally open it.

Just done mine on line, no bother. Here's hoping that people do tick the no religion box so we can start to see how marginal the church is.

And feeling sorry for my daughter as I have to fill in that she has no qualifications ... which is untrue as she has 1 GCSE that she took last year early, and will have a whole bunch by the end of the summer. I keep wanting to put down explanations. I don't care about it from the governments point of view but more from someone viewing it in 100 years time.
I can't understand why you feel sorry for your daughter, she is still young, her qualifications can be listed in full at the next census.

I had better as I am a Census Collector in 10 days time and dont want to have to knock on my own door!

I was a census collector in 1981 after my mother who did it in 1971 suggested it (I was out of work at the time). The most boring job I ever had. I had to go back every night for a week and half to get some of the forms back.

But, yes, we did ours online a couple of days after we got it. It took the GF's son nearly 2 weeks to fill his bit in  .

Well as she pointed out that there would be half a year group in the same position, and that she could tick the 1-4 box instead....

Meanwhile members of the family are trying to decide what their nationality is... with them feeling that they want to give different responses ... Fine I've said ... though they are going to think we are a bit of an odd family!!

I wont be answering the religion question.
As for the general health question, they missed out an option "Oh, y'know, mustn't grumble."

Did ours on Sunday and posted it.

It took huge reserves of restraint not to put some sarky comments in the section about job title and what does your job consist of....

But the thought of copping a fine for a smart alec comment kept me sensible. For once.
