Its 36/52 front with 11-28 at the back.
Thats quite a range on the back you may be losing speed and momentum on the shifts down, once lost hard to regain on a hill even if its not very severe. You wiil tend to drop your pace to suit the gear, once you ve lost the speed it ll take more effort to climb the hill.

That's what I expected to happen! Maybe my mindset has changed, and I've gone all soft. Bah.

I think it was fortunate that I was out with a friend who always used to leave me trailing behind - especially on the hills. So I could see how much I'd improved when I found myself having to slow down for him - of course I didn't rub it in - much ^_^

Just because you've got all those gears, doesn't mean you have to use every one on every hill.
Keep pressure on the pedals, only change when your legs tell you to.
Just try riding in the same gear you ride as a single or fixed.
