There’s a podcast about the English language called “ Something rhymes with Purple” it’s presented by Giles Brandreth and Susie Dent.
I subscribe.. I also sent them a twit thing regarding words that start and end with the same letter for their insomnia cure.

My one for 'i' was impi & for 'u' was uhuru

There was an old fella from Slough
Whose cooking was terribly rough.
He roasted a cow,
Tied its tail in a bow,
And stuck a long skewer right through.

Did he Laugh
Sitting one the the bough
When he realised that the Cow
was used to draw his plough ?

There was a young man from Dundee
Who got stung on the nose by a wasp.
When asked if it hurt,
He said "No, not much
It can do it again if it likes"

There are at least two Sikh forenames which rhyme with purple.
I used to work with a woman called Herpal; her wedding was where I first encountered tea flavoured with cardamom. Very pleasant, but, er, unusual. The tea, I mean.
Gurpal is also quite a common name.
