I'd be interested to know the details of the two "recall to factory" issues, fatblokish (as other people might, too).
Did they involve the ebikemotion system, or was it the other components?
Cheers.

Just the ebikemotion. The first was perhaps due to the route through which it was bought, i.e. not through a main dealer. The problem was that the bike went to a default demo mode which I think, though not sure, could only be switched off by a dealer/Ribble.

The second is (still awaiting rectification) maybe due to over voltage during charging. I left it on charge for perhaps a bit loner than usual having almost depleted the battery earlier. On disconnecting the charger and turning on the bike it went into a fault mode. I really hope that it's fixed soon AND just as importantly, I learn the reason for the fault.

The rest of the bike, aside from the ebikemotion, works like a charm.

Ah, thanks. First one is irritating but easy, second one doesn't sound so good. I hope it's recoverable.

I have a Specialised Como4.

Como because I wanted step through, my joints are not that flexible these days

I wanted a hybrid because even though the project that I bought the bicycle for would mostly involve road I know me, and my Sister who I cycle with .... "Oh! That path looks interesting! Lets have a look ...."

I tossed and turned between Como3 and 4, the difference being £500 for marginally more range gain, and glad I opted for the 4. The project we are looking at is for 30-40 miles a day. My first discovery is "advertised range" is not the same as "actual range". I get about 60 miles on the 4, but so far mostly flat and we will have a lot of hills to climb in the future. the 3 would have left me marginal to say the least.

The other "warning" I will flag up is the "Joy" factor. An e-bike has unleashed the inner-child in me. Whereas riding Geraldine to the local shop a mile away was an ordeal (Geraldine is a Pashley Sovereign princess) I don't want to stop riding Daisy, my como4. The fun factor is enormous so be prepared to do your daily commute and then spend an extra half-hour riding around the block because you don't want to get off the thing.
