A few weeks ago I tried to give away a bike, without success http://www.cyclechat.net/threads/20-wheel-decathlon-childs-bike.152508/

I then put it in eBay with a £10 starting price, just to deter time wasters. It sold for...£10.

I guess I'm as guilty as anyone, but we must live in a rich society when no-one living within a few miles of me wants a secondhand but virtually new bike. I bet if I go to Decathlon this weekend there'll be lots of parents buying similar bikes for £100.

I'm not sure what, if any, point I'm trying to make here, it just feels sad.

I often put things on the pavement outside my house with a note attached saying "free to good home, just take it!".

I've got rid of carpets, bikes, broken tv's and all sorts of other stuff like this. I used to use Freecycle, but it was a bit of a faff organising collection.
