I was a bit glib with my fact, apologies for that although I suspect that the majority of these will have been when cyclists have put themselves into a blind spot prior to the truck's manouvre, granted some accidents have been horrid lack of care from the hgv driver

still though, and not being glib but considering the amonut of cyclists out there in London every rush hour, the amount killed every year is tiny

No, it's not a fact. You can be seriously injured or killed if you are in front of a HGV (in a blindspot) and it runs you down as you both turn left. You can be seriously injured or killed if you are proceeding straight ahead and a HGV turns left across you path (aka a left hook).

+1 I was at the traffic light in Tooley steet about to turn right to London Bridge I was a few metres in front of him in the ASL. When the lights changed to green he carried on as if I wasn't there :smile:.
