When you put them all together they are brilliant, aren't they?

1. My thighs were full of blood.
2. I had some Jack Daniels the night before.
3. It's the ghost of my unborn twin.
4. I was in Mexico.

There must be more. Please add to the list.

No no no, these performance-enhancing drugs are not for me - they're for my mother-in-law!

I never cheated, I only attempted to cheat but failed.

My excuse would be, I am suffering a rare blood disorder that has only been discovered recently and isn't in the medical dictionaries yet, and I had to go from Mexico to Italy to see my grandmother on her deathbed, and the dog ate my team kit and I am allergic to turquoise dye. Would that cover it?

I think you're being a little harsh on the asthmatics.

Surely this is one of those really nice, heart warming stories that just make you glad to be alive. Who would have thought, after all the problems we see kids with asthma have at school, it turns out that the only ones who go on to make it in professional sport are the asthmatics.

That must be so encouraging for for all those kids who wheeze around the playground. "Don't worry son, one day the yellow jersey could be yours."
