Good question. I always like to try things that seem difficult or scary ..... at my age I shouldn't be thinking about cycling down steps but it's been on my mind

What bike is he going to try it on? Can't see a road bike liking it too much. If giving it a go find some shallow steps and treat it as a bumpy slope. There is nothing to it other than just riding down them. Speed is your friend!

I will, once I learn the basic technique.....
it might come handy one day, you never know 
I learnt to ride with no hands on the handlebars some years ago.....
