Normally just wear MTB style shorts, with a padded shorts underneath, cheap pair of trainers/hiking shoes & a cheap karmore or even muddy fox top, with an undershirt or a gilet. I would like to get away from the all spandex look. But cycling tops are lighter and more breathable than my normal t shirts. I always need two layers anyway, have to avoid that joggers nip!

Also can't go without those neckscarf things. Once you go scarf, you never go back.

I never just pop to the shops though. Mostly ycle 30+ miles, or even just the 6 miles to work. Basically wear the same set up.

@Cycleops seriously its ok for short jaunts like the W.N.B.R. which are in the order of 7-9 miles, but I was a bit sore last year, I have this in mind for next year

I bought two of these from china http://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/201150567...49&var=500311740932&ssPageName=STRK:MEBIDX:IT took about 10 days to get here and they are identical.

I wound up doing 15 miles today, but wore pants and shirt because at mile 5 there was an estate sale I wanted to go to. Absolutely more cameras than I've ever seen outside of a camera store or convention. Camping gear galore. But I would have looked a right fool in Pearl Izumi Lycra. As it was, I chained the bicycle to the street sign and got in line for the 50% off sale, just as the parking for cars got to be 2 blocks distant.

Once upon a time only ballet dancers and Max Wall wore tights then cyclists got into it, we even called them 'Max Walls'. If you get a chance to you tube Max Wall you should, one thing the great man taught me was if you are wearing tights for your ride to work put the tights on before the wellies. W:biggrin:rds of wisdom.

What a lot of pathetic conformist fashion victims we have here. Wear what you want and stuff the fashionistas.

How do you guys feel about this?
I feel that the defy is a really good bike.

Oh and I feel happy that another person is riding.

As a chunky monkey who owns lycra I tend to wear a pair of sport shorts over my cycling shorts as I don't really feel that the world is ready to see my behind wobbling about. Saying that the cycling tops are handy with the extra pockets.
