I'm the first to admit that recently I've become a fair weather cyclist/commuter. So before anyone else says it, I will.....MTFU, JFDI etc.
Tuesday evening I went to a race. Coming out afterwards I approached an uphill junction. Off the accelerator, clutch in, footbrake on, handbrake
SNAP
That was fun......
So I arranged for the car to be worked on yesterday. Good forecast and a nice cycle commute in and back, apart from one bit.
That was the phone call.
"Alright mate, you sound out of breath"
"Yeah, cycling back from work, you've caught me at the end of a nice climb"
"Best get used to it then - your cars not going to be ready today. The cables run through tubes and they've seized. I've ordered new tubes, but they're not going to be here before dinner tomorrow"
I'd just been looking at todays forecast
Run ins OK, light rain (and the forecast was bang on)
Improving around dinnertime (bang on again)
Ride home I'm hoping they've got it wrong. Heavy rain, thunder, lightning and windy
This could be a long 15 miles!

It's Friday, it's fairly warm, and you'll be riding home. If it's really hacking it down it'll feel unpleasant for a few minutes, once you're soaked through chances are you'll ride the rest of the way home laughing like a madman, aiming for big puddles.

I very much enjoying commuting home in the rain, the heavier the better. I seem to be able to average fast speeds. Its that wind thats a bitch!
The initial thought of going out in the rain is pretty grim; but once you get stuck in im pretty sure you will have a great time! Just dont forget lights if the rain is torrential reducing visability.
Good luck and stay safe.
