He was a great character and great player.
His management style suited the Irish underdog mentality. Although his Irish team seemed to start the overseas player phenomenon.

Been watching the Big Man commentating on the Euros replays recently. Unswerving, solid, dependable, just as he was as a defender. I feel for Bob and the family. Another legend of the game sadly gone.

Big Jack changed football forever.
He was the man who invented standing in front of the goalkeeper at corners. Caused a furore at the time. Now everybody does it.

I've been searching the internet high and low for a record/song 'Big Jack' brought out around the mid 1970's. It was more talking than singing and it had a line about 'bread and butter for tea'. It was mainly about his childhood days. I can usually find these things by putting a few suggestions etc in,but no luck this time.

He was also a very good shot. Guy at the end of our road runs a shoot and Jack came over a few times. Reckoned to be a really nice guy.
