Straddle the line, discord and rhyme
Her career and life were far from sparse. Don't judge other people's appreciation of her contribution, wit and turmoil based on the fact that someone gave you the Star Wars box set one Christmas and that's all you know.
Equally, even if Star Wars were the only notable thing she did, it's of such cultural significance that it alone would make her passing worthy of acknowledgement.

Yeah Lancaster's full of them.

To highlight that not every celeb/half celeb becomes a Demi God when they die.
If the thread was started so people who did not know her other than one film, but want to falsely mourn her ?
As if they actually followed her sparse career ?
Don't kid yourselves on that you thought highly of her.
I told the truth, while others have given empty condolences.
Freedom of speech

Obvious troll is obvious.

Are there any other notable films in which she has shone ?
People seem to be hanging onto her wit and little quotes, were they more of a contribution than her acting skills ?
If she has made a lasting indelible mark on people's life on here ,then accept my apologies.
But somehow I doubt people on here have a stack of Carrie Fisher movies or a book of witty quotes from her for reference.
She died and for that I'm sorry.
But it's all too easy to put someone famous on a pedestal after they die,and make them out to be "one of the greats" or an icon with bleeding heart comments to make you seem like you gave a shoot.
She wasn't a great or an icon,so made no impression on me.
David Bowie shaped my musical tastes from the age of 9 with Ziggy Stardust and Hunky Dory. Not everyone's cup of tea I grant you, would anyone dispute that he never made a telling contribution to music ?
I also didn't take to Twatter,Faceplook or CC to pour my heart out as if I knew the fella.
Perspective guys, will Carrie Fisher be in anyone's hearts and prayers tonight on here truthfully ?

You just made my point all you are talking about is her movie career.

Those paying tribute to her here know more about her screen writing skills, her books, her troubles with addiction, and most importantly her honesty and drive to improve the understanding and acceptance of mental illness.

If you have nothing good to say, say nothing and don't expose your lack of knowledge.

And you knew all about the books and screen writing skills TVC?
Because you followed her career closely ?
Don't think so .

Not so much, more about her mental illness, because that is more relavent to me and my family.

As I said, don't reflect your lack of understanding onto the rest of us.

For the record, I will not contribute to the threads following the deaths of Mark Hamill or Harrison Ford because as far as I know they are jobbing actors and have done little else. If I am proved wrong then I stand to learn and change my opinion, just as I have about George Michael whose charitable work had passed me by.

I have first hand experience of mental health issues @The Velvet Curtain with Social Anxiety Disorder and alcohol problems to mask it ,so I know of what she may have went through.
Albeit I was not in the limelight. Not something I'm ashamed of but not something I want to discuss all the time.
I overcame mine and as far as I know so too did she.Good on her,but her career on and off the screen was not of any great significance to most if they are honest.

Man, we get it, you dont think she had a great career. Not sure why it matters to you if people post what they want, to quote you, freedom of speech.

If you dont want people to call you a troll you could try not posting in an RIP thread insulting the career of the person who it was started for.

Now Debbie Reynolds was a true star, the like we may never see again, within 2 days of her daughter, that is so strange, was it the heartache of losing a child that brought on the stroke?

Did you take to Twatter or Facebook to tell everyone how unaffected you were by Bowie's passing? Or is it just people you know very little about that you have strong opinions for?
