I think in the 80's before Ikea had reached these shores and it was still novel to go to one in Germany, he was still the face of Ikea advertising and promotion.

IKEA is a store? I always thought it was a modern take on the stately home, where families could go for the whole day and shuffle slowly past all the exhibits.....

His name is Ingvar Kamprad and the company name is initials IKEA = Ingvar Kamprad Elmtaryd (the farm where he grew up) Agunnaryd (hometown).
